The textile sector in Punjab has faced an unprecedented situation amid the energy crisis that has forced the closure of all the textile mills across the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to details, the electricity supply to textile mills across the province had been suspended from 7pm on Wednesday.
Despite the government’s resolve to facilitate the export sector, the gas supply to the textile mills has already been closed.
According to textile mills owners, they cannot operate their units on industrial self-generation due to its heavy cost as well as they lacked the capacity to do so.
Resultantly, all the text mill across the Punjab province have gone for a shut down that may further increase the unemployment in the country and will also affect the export sector of the country that may have far reached consequences on the economy.
