The launch date for Samsung’s highly anticipated Galaxy S24 series has been leaked, providing tech enthusiasts with a glimpse of what’s to come. Previous rumors have pointed to a January launch, but now, a more specific date has emerged.
According to a report from Korean news outlet Biz SBS, Samsung is gearing up for its next Galaxy Unpacked event, which is set to take place on January 17, 2024, in the United States. This date slightly deviates from the previous tip provided by well-known leaker Ice Universe, who had hinted at a January 18 launch. The time difference between the US and China might explain this minor variation. The semiconductor market has seen a slowdown, and Samsung is looking to its flagship smartphone to make up for the dip in sales.
Moreover, Samsung is determined to take the gaming performance of the Galaxy S24 family to the next level by introducing support for AMD FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution). This upscaling technique aims to boost FPS in games without overloading the hardware. Initially featured on AMD’s latest gaming GPUs, it also extends its support to older and rival Nvidia graphics cards. This development implies that the Galaxy S24 Ultra might be capable of running PC-level games, placing it in competition with devices like the iPhone 15.
Additionally, on December 1, Samsung is scheduled to release the Galaxy S23 FE in its home market of South Korea. Priced at €570, this marks the first time a Galaxy S FE model has been available in Samsung’s home country since 2020.
The listing also confirms one variant with 12 GB of RAM and One UI 6.1 OS out of the box. There are hints at a possible overclocked GPU, although this remains unconfirmed. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, featuring enhanced clock speeds for superior performance.
Recent benchmark appearances have revealed a prime core frequency of 3.4 GHz, while the remaining cluster maintains the previous specifications at 3.15 GHz for most cores, two cores at 2.96 GHz, and two at 2.27 GHz.
Stay tuned for more updates on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series as the launch date approaches.
