Pakistan’s Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) achieved a historic milestone on Friday by successfully launching the country’s first fully indigenous Electro-Optical (EO-1) satellite from China’s Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre. The event marks a significant step forward in Pakistan’s space program, which has long been striving to establish itself in the competitive field of space exploration and technology.

“The satellite will not only breathe new life into the communication system but will also provide the fastest internet facility. Improvement in the communication system will boost e-commerce, economic activities, and e-governance,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said while congratulating the nation.

The EO-1 satellite, designed and developed entirely by SUPARCO, is expected to revolutionize multiple sectors in Pakistan. Equipped with advanced imaging capabilities, it will play a pivotal role in areas such as agriculture, disaster management, urban planning, and national security.
