KARACHI: Pakistan Under-19 cricket team chased down a measly target of eight runs in just 1.4 overs to defeat their Sri Lankan counterparts by nine wickets in a one-off four-day game at the National Stadium with a day to spare on Tuesday.
The Sri Lankans were bowled out for 236 in their second innings having been asked to follow on after Saad Baig’s side had posted 433-9 in their first innings, handing the hosts a 229-run lead.
The only resistance from the tourists came from Pulindu Perera (50) and skipper Sineth Jayasuriya (52) after Sri Lanka resumed their second innings on 155-6. They were sent packing in just over 11 overs with four Pakistan bowlers taking two wickets each.
Victory was a certainty for Pakistan with Vishwa Lahiru striking the only blow for Sri Lanka with the ball when he dismissed Azan Awais.
Pakistan’s Shahzaib Khan was named player-of-the-match for his 161 in the first innings.
