ISLAMABAD: An ‘unidentified’ official in civvies was beaten by a bunch of lawyers, including advocate Sher Afzal Marwat on the premises of the Supreme Court over unknown reason on Thursday.
Officers and officials of the capital police kept silence over the incident and the identification of the official.
Some of the officers said that he was only identified as police official and on duty at the Supreme Court in civvies.
His identification, name and the division/unit where he is deployed is yet to be established, they said.
Police officers told Dawn that the incident took place in the parking area of the SC at around 1:50pm where Advocate Sher Afzal Marwat along with his some junior lawyers allegedly reacted aggressively and used foul language, they added.
There was no confirmation about the reason which provoked the lawyers, they said, adding however, there was a report that a scuffle broke out between them over not giving way to the advocate’s vehicle.
So far no former complaint was lodged with the police for legal action, they said, adding that besides, the official is also being traced.
