Iran’s High-Quality Medicines Gain Global Recognition, Fostering International Partnerships

Iran's pharmaceutical industry is experiencing a significant boom, driven by its commitment to quality and innovation.

In recent years, Iran’s pharmaceutical sector has undergone a remarkable transformation, emerging as a significant player in the global pharmaceutical market. The Deputy Minister of Health in Iran recently announced that the export of Iranian medicines has witnessed a substantial increase and is now reaching 40 countries worldwide. This development not only signifies the growth of Iran’s pharmaceutical industry but also highlights its strong international presence.

Iran Exports of pharmaceutical products was US$105.03 Million during 2018, according to the United Nations COMTRADE database on international trade. Iran Exports of pharmaceutical products – data, historical chart and statistics – was last updated on October of 2023.

During the 8th International Exhibition of Medicines and Related Industries, known as Iran Pharma, Seyyed Haider Mohammadi, the Deputy Minister of Health, shared these impressive statistics. He emphasized that this achievement underscores Iran’s positive interaction with various countries, including neighboring nations, in the field of medicine.

One of the notable aspects of Iran Pharma was the participation of 427 domestic companies and 282 foreign companies from 33 different countries. This multinational presence is considered one of the exhibition’s greatest accomplishments, demonstrating the global interest in Iran’s pharmaceutical capabilities.

Seyyed Haider Mohammadi noted that Iran Pharma has consistently served as an exceptional platform for showcasing the country’s pharmaceutical strengths. He emphasized that this year’s exhibition was particularly significant, characterized by grandeur and a warm reception from attendees.

The Iranian Ministry of Health has been proactive in accelerating the issuance of licenses in the food and medicine sector, further boosting the pharmaceutical industry’s growth. Additionally, it was announced that in the past year, Iran launched 33 production lines for 75 new medicines, a testament to the nation’s commitment to innovation and development in healthcare.

Bahram Ainullahi, highlighting Iran’s strategy of partnership and cooperation with other countries, stated that discussions with health ministers from 20 countries yielded a positive response. These nations welcomed the prospect of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the import of Iranian medicine and medical equipment.
