Govt mulling to reduce powers of FBR officers in upcoming budget

A proposal has been made to reduce the powers of the officers of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in the federal budget 2023-24, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

As per the official sources, it was proposed to reduce the powers of the FBR officers regarding the arrest of taxpayers.

It was suggested to empower the FBR officers to make arrests only if tax evasion is proven.
